Anglerman fishing adventures - Try your hand at fly fishing
Full-day course in fly fishing in Northern Dalarna, Sweden with private guide / instructor.
In the community of Älvdalen, part of Sweden's southern- most wilderness, flows the Österdalälven river which is recognised on fly-fishing circuits. Home to both wild trout and grayling, with fish weighing several kilos caught ever season.
Enjoy beautiful, untamed nature with a river that is easy to wade and which offers a great variety of fishing in fast-flowing rapids, pools and deeper sections. Here, our knowledgeable guide will take you out for a day of lear- ning and fishing where we will go through the basics of fly fishing, learning how to cast, and trying to catch your first trout or grayling on a fly rod as soon as possible.
The guide will also give you some basic info on the entomology of insects based on fly selection, equipment with tips and tricks and how to read and fish the water most efficiently. We practice catch & release as far as possible, but can of course take some fish home with you if the opportunity presents itself.
Itinerary
We meet in central Älvdalen at the Anglerman’s office where you are given suitable waders and shoes plus fishing equipment. From there, the guide drives us out into the wilderness for today’s adventure, taking us to a nice campsite by the shore where we go through the theory of casting and fishing.
You will first learn to cast the line without a fly, but within a short time we will switch to sharp fishing where the guide will help you find your timing in both casting and fishing techniques.
The guide will serve you a local wilderness lunch at a suitable location along the river during the day.
We fish our way through the day, have a coffee and the guide offers support and helps you maximise your chances of hooking your first fish and feeling the joy and serenity that all us fly fishermen can attest to.
In the afternoon we pack up and head back to the departure point, arriving by 4 pm and ending the day here together.
