Welcome to Dalarna – a miniature Sweden rich in nature and culture

Dalarna is a natural treasure featuring varied and vast landscapes offering all manner of outdoor activities – with fascinating history and cultural heritage to boot.

Dalarna is often called “Sweden in miniature”. Much of the popular imagery of Sweden, culturally and geographically, is from Dalarna; a pretty red-painted cottage by a glittering lake in the evening sun, people in brightly-coloured folk costumes dance and swirl in celebration of Midsummer and of course the Dala-horse.

The Dalarna landscape is one of mountains, waterfalls and rivers, deep forests with woodland lakes and open rolling farmland. It is a perfect all-year-round destination for hiking, skiing, cycling, skating, canoeing and other outdoor adventures.

All very Swedish. All very Dalarna.

Arrival in Falun and Check in at Clarion Collection Hotel Bergmästaren

The Clarion Collection Hotel Bergmästaren is a gem of a hotel situated in a charming part of Falun within easy reach of the city's UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Hotel Bergmästaren has a long history – the beautiful building was built back in the early 1930s. A magnificent building, which served as the city's Systembolag (alcohol retailer) for a long time. When the hotel was built in 1985, it was named Bergmästaren after the mine inspection office that had previously been on the site.

Please note: There are many stairs by the underground visit and we recommend rugged shoes and warm clothing.

Then, as now, guests came to eat and drink well, spend time together and enjoy the wonderful setting. In 1965 Hans Erik Börjeson bought the hotel and renamed it the Green Hotel.

Today the hotel is owned by Salka Börjeson Eynon. She continues to develop the hotel as a meeting ground for visitors from all over the world. Many well known people have written their names in the guest book that is found in the Green salon- and they gladly return, time and time again.

In Sweden, people salute peace and quiet. Here you can often enjoy the sound of silence from your own accommodation. Fall asleep to the calming sound of trees swaying in the wind.
